Franz Sinabell has been an economist at WIFO in the Research Group "Environment, Agriculture and Energy" since 2002. He works
in the fields of agricultural and food policy, environmental and resource economics and risk management. From 2008 to 2012
he was Deputy Director of WIFO. He lectures at the University of Vienna and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences.
He is an expert advising the Commission on the preparation of the annual report on the economic situation of agriculture and
he is a board member of the Austrian Society of Agricultural Economics. In the course of his career he was involved in numerous
national and international scientific projects. In many cases he was project coordinator. He has conducted studies on rural
development issues for the OECD, the European Commission and national agencies. He was scientific coordinator of several studies
on the impact of rural development programmes in Austria. Most recently, he coordinated projects on the economic significance
of biomass use in agriculture in Austria and on the future of the forestry and timber industry in Austria.
