"START2030" at the 21st Austrian Climate Day

The 21st Austrian Climate Day took place online from 12 to 13 April 2021, under the motto "Clash of Cultures? Climate Research Meets Industry!". As one of 16 projects, "START2030" was presented in the poster session of the Austrian Climate Research Programme (ACRP). In addition to a project overview, the methodological approach for the linking of the two models DYNK and ATLANTIS and the progress of the project were presented. The poster presentation was followed by a discussion with the Steering Committee and other conference participants.

The aim of the START2030 project a comprehensive analysis of a transformation towards an electricity system based 100 percent on renewable energy sources in Austria by 2030. A set of policy scenarios in which this target is achieved are developed to illustrate the broad range of potential impacts associated with such a transformation. The model analysis will provide insights into the emissions impacts as well as into the macroeconomic implications and distributional effects of the transformation. Policy recommendations to mitigate potential detrimental impacts on vulnerable groups will be derived.
