100 Percent Renewable Energy Sources in Electricity Supply

The aim of the workshop was to exchange experiences and to discuss the planned expansions of the two models used in START2030, DYNK and ATLANTIS.

The ACRP project "START2030" of the project partners WIFO, Graz University of Technology and CESAR aims to analyse the economic impacts and the social consequences of a transformation to a 100 percent renewable electricity system in Austria by 2030. For this analysis, WIFO's macroeconomic model DYNK and ATLANTIS, the simulation model of the electricity market by the Institute of Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation at Graz University of Technology, are expanded and linked.

In the online workshop, the project team discussed the extensions of the two models and the planned procedure for the linking of models with selected experts. In addition to the exchange of data between the models, the focus was put on the improvement of the representation of electricity generation technologies in the macroeconomic model DYNK and on the localisation of future electricity generation from renewable energy sources in the model ATLANTIS. The experts provided valuable input; the insights from the workshop will feed into further project work.

START2030 is funded by the Climate and Energy Fund and carried out within the ACRP programme. More information on the project and all presentations from the expert workshop can be found on the project website.
