Silvia Rocha-Akis is Senior Economist at WIFO and has been working in the Research Group "Labour Market, Income and Social
Security" since 2012. She holds a Master's degree from the Department of Economics at the University of Vienna and a doctoral
degree from the Department of Economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna), where she participated
in the special research programme "International Tax Coordination" funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). Subsequently,
she worked in the Economic Analysis Department of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank and as a post-doctoral researcher at the
Institute of Labour Economics at WU Vienna. She was a visiting scholar at the Institute of Finance at the Freie Universität
Berlin, received the Young Economists Award of the Austrian Economic Association and the Klaus Liebscher Award 2008. Her research
interests lie in the analysis of the distribution and redistribution of economic resources, with a special focus on the distributional
effects of government interventions and demographic structural changes. Silvia Rocha-Akis is a member of the Advisory Board
for Social Statistics of Statistics Austria and an alternate member of the Austrian Productivity Board. She has given numerous
presentations, lectured at the WU Vienna and published in various journals, including the Scandinavian Journal of Economics
and the Canadian Journal of Economics.
