SAT.1 Television Thriller Directed by Christopher Schier

From 2 to 4 April 2019, the Austrian Institute for Economic Research became the Munich Criminal Investigation Police Department. The reason for this was the production of the SAT.1 television thriller "Todesfrist", directed by Christopher Schier and based on the novel of the same name by Andreas Gruber. The leading roles are played by Josefine Preuß, Raymond Thiry, Mavie Hörbiger, Nils Hohenhövel and Stefan Pohl. Of course, the filming took place during ongoing research operations.

In the thriller "Todesfrist", the young inspector Sabine Nemez investigates the case of a serial killer whose tracks stretch all over Germany to Vienna. The perpetrator is inspired by the stories of the children's book "Der Struwwelpeter" and confronts his victims with a murderous riddle that has to be solved.

The film is shot on a total of 22 days. In addition to the WIFO building on the site of the Vienna Arsenal, various locations in Vienna and Lower Austria serve as filming locations. The thriller will be financed and realised by epo-film with its partners Constantin Television, SAT.1, Red Arrow Studios International, RTR and Filmfonds Wien.

"Todesfrist" is the first volume in a novel series about the tough but brilliant profiler Maarten S. Sneijder. Andreas Gruber's crime novels are published by Goldmann Verlag. There are already four thrillers about Maarten S. Sneijder, the fifth volume of the series will be published on 19 August 2019 and is called "Todesmal".
