Global Competitiveness Programme 2019
The World Economic Forum in Geneva has been compiling the Global Competitiveness Index since 2004 (www.weforum.org/gcr). It is based both on statistical sources from international organisations and on a comprehensive manager survey (Executive Opinion Survey). Competitiveness is defined as the totality of institutions, policies and determinants that determine a country's level of productivity. Due to the often high power density, small fluctuations can already result in a shift of several ranks. Small changes in individual years are therefore not significant for the location evaluation, but rather the long-term development needs to be observed. WIFO is the Austrian partner of the WEF and, as in previous years, collects the survey data among Austrian executives.
