Der Tourismus ist für Wien ein wichtiger Wirtschaftsfaktor: Laut dem von Statistik Austria und WIFO entwickelten regionalen
Tourismus-Satellitenkonto beliefen sich die Gesamtaufwendungen für Urlaubs- und Geschäftsreisen, Verwandten- und Bekanntenbesuche
sowie Aufenthalte an Zweitwohnsitzen und in Wochenendhäusern 2018 auf 7.175 Mio. €. Davon entfielen 54,0% auf ausländische
Besucher und Besucherinnen, 45,4% auf inländische Reisende und 0,7% auf die Ausgaben im Zuge des Aufenthaltes in Zweitwohnungen.
Die durch den Tourismus in Wien direkt erwirtschaftete Wertschöpfung machte einschließlich geschäftlicher Reisen 2018 3.764
Mio. € und einen Anteil am Bruttoregionalprodukt von 3,9% aus. Zusammen mit den indirekten Effekten trug der Tourismus 2018
5,7% zur regionalen Wirtschaftsleistung Wiens bei. Zudem waren im Bundesland 2018 unmittelbar 42.300 Vollzeitstellen den charakteristischen
Tourismusindustrien zurechenbar (4,7% an der Gesamtbeschäftigung). Über alle Wirtschaftsbereiche hinweg hingen direkt und
indirekt 58.700 Vollzeitäquivalente bzw. 6,5% aller Arbeitsplätze in Wien mit dem Tourismus zusammen.

A Regional Tourism Satellite Account for Vienna. Continuation for 2018
The tourism industry is an important economic factor for Vienna: according to the regional tourism satellite account developed
by Statistics Austria and WIFO, in 2018 total spending on vacation and business trips, visits of relatives and friends, as
well as stays at secondary residences and weekend homes added up to 7,175 million €. Of this amount, 54.0 percent was accounted
for by foreign visitors, 45.4 percent by domestic travellers, and 0.7 percent was spent in the course of staying in second
homes. In 2018, value added generated directly by tourism activities in Vienna, including business travel, came up to 3,764
million € and thereby accounted for a share in the gross regional product of 3.9 percent. The total value-added effects of
tourism in Vienna contributed 5.7 percent to the regional economic output. Moreover, 42,300 full-time jobs (FTE based on employees
and self-employed persons) in the state can be attributed directly to typical tourism industries (share of 4.7 percent in
total employment). Across all economic sectors 58,700 full-time equivalents or 6.5 percent of all jobs (FTE) in Vienna were
linked to the tourism industry in 2018.
