WIFO's Thematic Platform Sustainability and Inclusiveness" is organising an online workshop on SDG 8 "Decent work and economic growth". The United Nation's "Sustainable Development Goals" (SDGs) encompass economic, ecological and social aspects of sustainable and inclusive development and describe central global challenges for Austria and the EU, such as reducing inequality, mitigating climate change or creating appropriate working conditions. Among the 17 SDGs, SDG 8 focuses on full employment, decent work for all and economic growth. Emerging structural changes are accelerating in the COVID-19 crisis and increasing recognition of the global climate crisis is intensifying the questions of sustainable labour markets as well as of sustainable and inclusive economic structures. The conference topic is set on the background of the actual situation facing disruptions and challenges. In this respect, issues and effects on inequality both among the society and countries should be discussed. Another relevant aspect relates to measurement and monitoring instruments.
