Priv.-Doz. Dr. Stefan Angel

Stefan Angel is Senior Economist and has been working in WIFO's Research Group "Labour Economics, Income and Social Security" since October 2021. His work focuses on the topics of working hours, income distribution and poverty, indebtedness, housing and the evaluation of labour market policy measures. Stefan Angel holds degrees in Socio-economics (2008, Vienna University of Economics and Business), Sociology (2010, University of Vienna) and Economics (2011, Vienna University of Economics and Business). In 2014, he was awarded a doctorate in Socio-economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, followed by a habilitation in Socio-economics in 2021. Before joining WIFO, Stefan Angel worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and at Statistics Austria and the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS). In 2019, he spent time as a visiting researcher at the Centre for Social Policy Herman Deleeck at the University of Antwerp. Stefan Angel publishes his research findings in international peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society: Series A, Review of Income and Wealth, Housing Studies, Journal of European Social Policy or Social Indicators Research. He is also a regular referee for journals, academic book publishers and research funding bodies. Stefan Angel has taught at the University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Economics and Business and is a regular lecturer at the FH Campus Vienna.
