The WIFO Radar of Competitiveness 2022

First Time with Interactive Visualisation
The WIFO radar of competitiveness measures the performance of Austria using 24 selected indicators related to economic, social and ecological goals: on average across 24 indicators, Austria is just behind the top third of European countries and has recently fallen further behind.

The WIFO Competitiveness Radar is available here for the first time as an interactive application. Time periods or comparative countries can be displayed individually.

With a percentage rank of 61.6, Austria performed equally well or better than more than 60 percent of the European comparison countries, but fell further behind the top third. Three years previously, the average percentage rank had been 67.2, and ten years earlier it had been as high as 71.7.

This was partly due to a drop in the rankings for multifactor productivity and the indicators for employment and income distribution. Austria continues to achieve very high scores in regional cohesion. In other areas, such as energy dependency and environmental patents, it has improved relative to the other countries.
