Video: trend Discussion on the Role of the ECB and National Central Banks

WIFO economist Daniela Kletzan-Slamanig (WIFO) and the former deputy governor of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) and now advisor to the fund company Amundi Austria Andreas Ittner discussed the challenges posed by climate change for the financial markets at the "trend Round Table" with Arne Johannsen.

ECB president Christine Lagarde recently announced a deliberately "green monetary policy". Private and institutional investors are increasingly focusing on sustainable and green investments, a market segment that has shown massive growth in recent years. At the same time, however, the aim is to further raise awareness among investors and banks with regard to climate-related risks in their portfolios and to establish and apply criteria for their assessment. In addition to the purchase of Green Bonds by the ECB, increased transparency can help to increase investments for climate protection.
