Mit der Fortsetzung des Konjunkturaufschwungs verstärkten sich im Jahr 1990 die Unterschiede im Wirtschaftswachstum der Bundesländer.
Die Bestimmungsgründe für die Spätphase einer Hochkonjunktur begünstigten den Osten Österreichs und bewirkten – abweichend
von den vorangegangenen Jahren – ein Ost-West-Wachstumsgefälle.

The continuation of the upswing accentuated the growth differentials among the Austrian provinces in 1990. In contrast to
earlier cycles, in 1990 the Eastern parts of Austria were favoured by the late phase of the boom and economic growth was higher
than in the West.
