15th Geoffrey J.D. Hewings Regional Economics Workshop
In the keynote speech at the workshop, Roberta Capello, Professor at Politecnico Milano, addressed regional disparities in times of digital transformation and pointed out the numerous related research questions that require further extensive analyses.
At the 15th Geoffrey J.D. Hewings Regional Economics Workshop, young and established researchers from all over the world presented and discussed scientific papers on regional economic research.
The patron of this event, Geoffrey Hewings, was Professor of Regional Economics at the Department of Geography and the Department of Economics at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, USA. At the university he founded the Regional Economics Applications Laboratory (REAL) in the late 1980s, where hundreds of young scientists from all over the world received their doctorates and numerous renowned researchers in the field of regional economics visited, including many regional economists from WIFO.
In addition to Geoffrey Hewings himself, the event was also attended by Patricio Aroca (Universidad Andrés Bello – UNAB), one of the most famous economists in Latin America.
