Since 16 April 2020, Alexander Loidl, a business economist, has been Deputy director at the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) and will in future coordinate the controlling, finance and accounting agendas. He succeeds Bernhard Binder as Head of Finance, who after more than 10 years at WIFO has taken over the CFO position at the European Handball Federation.

Loidl, who was born in Vöcklabruck, previously held management positions in various subsidiaries of Wien Holding GmbH such as EU-Förderagentur GmbH and EuroVienna EU-consulting & -management GmbH. At the University of Vienna he graduated in International Business Administration and has been studying supervision and coaching at the Postgraduate Center since 2018. As the new Head of Finance at WIFO, he now completes the four-member management team of the institute with Director Christoph Badelt, External Coordinator Ulrike Famira-Mühlberger and Internal Coordinator Jürgen Janger.

"We are pleased that with Alexander Loidl we have been able to recruit an extremely competent and experienced finance professional," said WIFO Director Christoph Badelt, who also emphasised his gratitude to Bernhard Binder "for his many years of commitment and his lasting merits".
