apl. Prof. Dr. Hans Pitlik
Hans Pitlik is Senior Economist at WIFO and has been working in the Research Group "Macroeconomics and Public Finance" since 2006. After completing his studies and his doctorate in Economics in 1996, he habilitated in Economics at the University of Hohenheim in 2004. Since 2009 he has also been appointed an associate professor at the University of Hohenheim. His research focusses on the analysis of individual attitudes to economic and financial policy and the relationship with institutional trust and life satisfaction. Further research interests are the analysis of the determinants of institutional reforms as well as the analysis of fiscal policy and budget institutions. He is an expert in the Austrian Fiscal Council and a co-opted member of the Economic Policy Committee of the Verein für Socialpolitik and participated in the Expert Commission on Administrative Reform in Austria 2010-11. Hans Pitlik spent international research stays, e.g., at the Ratio Institute in Stockholm and at the Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona. He has numerous publications in international journals (e.g., European Journal of Political Economy, Public Choice, Public Finance Review, Kyklos, Publius: The Journal of Federalism, Journal of Institutional Economics, Review of International Organizations, Applied Economics Letters). He was project leader in commissioned studies for national (federal ministries, federal states, social partners, etc.) and international clients (European Commission, European Parliament, World Bank).
