Daughters' Day at WIFO

Insight into Economic Research
On 27 April 2023, Vienna Daughters' Day is going to take place for the 22nd time. WIFO is again participating this year. The target group are girls between the age of 14 and 16, who are interested in the working field of economic research.

After a welcome by WIFO's Deputy Director Ulrike Famira-Mühlberger, the two economists Christine Mayrhuber and Angela Köppl are going to open the Daughters' Day with a presentation of job profiles and career opportunities at WIFO.

This will be followed by a workshop by agricultural economist Franz Sinabell: "Milk from cows or from oats – we are increasingly encountering oat milk, whether in shops, restaurants or even at home in the refrigerator. How is this drink produced? How comparable is the production with cow's milk? How expensive are the two products and why do the prices differ? What do price and cost have to do with each other? If less cow's milk is drunk and more people are turning to beverages made from oats, soy, rice or almonds – what does that mean for agriculture, the food industry, the environment or animal welfare?"

At noon, the participants will enjoy a joint lunch with WIFO Director Gabriel Felbermayr in the in-house canteen before the day comes to an end with the second part of the workshop and group works.
