FIW Granted Conference Awards

Flora Lutz, Leopold Zessner-Spitzenberg and Jan Schymik Honoured
At the 12th FIW Research Conference the Research Center International Economics granted two awards for outstanding research achievements in the field of International Economics.

Flora Lutz and Leopold Zessner-Spitzenberg, two PhD students of the Vienna Graduate School of Economics, received the "Young Economist Award 2019" for their work "Sudden Stops and Reserve Accumulation in the Presence of Liquidity Risk".

Jan Schymik, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Economics at the University of Mannheim, received the "Best Paper Award 2019" for his paper "Human Capitalists and the Global Division of Labor".

The Conference Awards, each endowed with 1,000 €, honor the best papers presented at the FIW Research Conference. As FIW's goal is to support and promote young economists, this year again the focus was on the work of doctoral students, young faculty members, and young researchers in similar positions. In addition, the FIW Research Conference served as a platform for discussion between research and policy-makers to jointly explore empirical findings for practical economic policy-making.
