The estimate based on the data of the manufacturing companies surveyed in the WIFO Investment Survey shows an expansion of real investments by 1.4 percent for 2020 compared to 2019. The increase is driven by large companies. Small and medium-sized enterprises plan to retrench investments. Manufacturers of intermediate products in particular will significantly increase their investments this year. Investment by manufacturers of durable consumer goods is expected to decline. For Austria's economy as a whole, WIFO expects an increase in gross fixed capital formation of 1.8 percent in real terms in 2020.
