WIFO-Konjunkturtest

The WIFO-Konjunkturtest (business cycle survey) is a monthly survey of Austrian companies on their economic situation and its development in the coming months. The results of the WIFO-Konjunkturtest help to reliably assess the economic development in Austria at an early stage. The WIFO-Konjunkturtest has been conducted since 1954 and has been part of the "Joint Harmonised EU Programme of Business and Consumer Surveys" since 1996.

Recovery of Economic Expectations is Taking Shape. Results of the WIFO-Konjunkturtest (Business Cycle Survey) July 2020
Despite a significant increase (+5.9 points), the WIFO Economic Climate Index in July remains at –15.0 points, a level last reached in the financial market and economic crisis of 2008-09. Austrian enterprises are still pessimistic in their assessments of the current economic situation, although the improvement in economic expectations is taking shape. Enterprises in the construction industry are more confident in their economic assessments than enterprises in manufacturing and service industries.
