Skilled Labour Demand: Costs and Impacts of (Non-)Action
The study raises the question of what challenges might arise from the massive departure of workers aged 55 and older and how the (additional) demand for jobs needed as a result of digitalisation and ecological transformation can be met. This includes the replacement demand in system-relevant economic sectors and the need for qualifications, particularly in professions in demand due to digitalisation and ecological transformation. At the same time, the study also addresses the potential costs if an adequate number of skilled workers cannot compensate for these departures or if additional demand cannot be met.
