Monetary Family Benefits 2021
A Comparison Across Household Types
In Austria, families with children receive financial support by the state in the form of cash and tax benefits. The benefit levels calculated in the study amount to an average of 210 € in the form of direct cash benefits and 118 € in the form of tax benefits per child and month.
The benefit levels are calculated for different household types depending on the number and age of the children, the household composition, and the income levels of the parents. The workings of different family benefits are analysed using simulations for hypothetical families. Finally, the benefit levels are determined by means of microsimulation based on empirical data.
