Business Sentiment Stabilises at a Low Level

Following the slump in response to the outbreak of war in Iran, business indicators have recently stabilised at a low level. In Austria, business sentiment remained largely sceptical in May, although assessments of the current situation improved slightly. Economic output expanded moderately in the first quarter of 2026, driven by positive momentum from industry, whilst most service sectors were weak.
