On 4 November 2022, the Budget Committee of the Austrian Parliament held a public hearing on the draft federal budget for 2023. In view of "tightening budgetary margins", WIFO economist Margit Schratzenstaller noted that "fiscal sustainability must not be lost sight of, also in view of the necessary investments for the future".

In addition to Margit Schratzenstaller, the draft budget was also analysed by Christoph Badelt (Fiscal Council, Vienna University of Economics and Business), Martin Gundinger (Austrian Economics Center), Monika Köppl-Turyna (EcoAustria Institute for Economic Research) and Markus Marterbauer (Vienna Chamber of Labour).

The complete hearing of the Budget Committee is available here.
