The WIFO-Monatsberichte (monthly reports) contain research results and publications by WIFO staff on national and international economic developments based on sound economic analyses. Die österreichische Wirtschaft gewann im Jahr 2017, von einer breiten Basis getragen, an Dynamik. Besonders günstig entwickelten sich die Sachgütererzeugung und der Arbeitsmarkt. Das in den letzten Jahren beobachtete West-Ost-Gefälle der regionalen Konjunktur scheint etwas zu verblassen.

The Austrian economy enjoyed robust growth in 2017, supported by a broad base. Driven by this macroeconomic background, the production of goods and the labour market in particular experienced an upswing. The west-east divide in regional economic development observed in the last years appears to narrow gradually.
