Impulses of Decentralized Cultural Events on the Regional Economy
An analysis of the cost structure of the Danube Festival 1988 in conjunction with estimates of visitor expenditures leads to the result that total income generated in Lower Austria through this festival is approximately equal to total public expenditure for this event. This income effect is one of the positive by-products of such an event series whose primary aim it is to reduce a significant regional gap in the supply of cultural institutions and the concomitant socio-cultural impulses.
