The Economy in the Austrian Länder. Second Quarter 2018
The regional economic indicators for the second quarter of 2018 show an economic peak that is broadly diversified according to demand components and sector groups, but the first effects of the weakening global economy are also seen in Austria. With employment growth rates still high, differences in regional growth patterns remain small as geographical differences in sectoral development patterns partly compensate each other. Advantages in manufacturing can be seen above all in the large industrial regions and in the south of the country; business-related services increased above the Austrian average in the west and tourism in the south and east. Unemployment decreased in all Austrian Länder, with regional differences (also) due to the development of the labour supply.
