Structures and Conditions of Academic Research in the EU and Austria. Findings of a Representative Survey
The findings of a representative survey among researchers at universities in the EU illustrate the heterogeneity of national higher education systems. In an integrated research environment, the differences found in PhD studies, career paths and working conditions may lead to asymmetric mobility and divergencies in the research output. In Austria, researchers profess above-average satisfaction with their working conditions, with the exception of the career perspectives open to them. Similarly, the findings for PhD students point at a potential for improvement.
