The aim of this study is to examine the industrial and regional economic aspects, as well as the entrepreneurial intentions behind the choice of location and the high level of funding from the EU Structural Funds that was decisive in this regard. Subsequently, the effects of the establishment and operation of Lenzing Fibers GmbH on the development of the location – also in connection with the Heiligenkreuz business park – the effects on the municipality of Heiligenkreuz, and the achievement of the EU regional funding objectives are analysed. A regional economic analysis examines the embedding of the company as part of chemical fiber production in the local industry structure and its development between 2000 and 2024. Finally, a model estimate simulates the overall economic impact of the operation of Lenzing Fibers GmbH and the associated public revenues. A synthesis of the results concludes the study.
