Austrian Economy Remains Weak

According to the WIFO Flash Estimate from the end of April, Austria's gross domestic product grew slightly (+0.2 percent) in the first quarter of 2025. This is attributable to an expansion in exports and continued high public consumption. Consumer confidence and business sentiment remain subdued. In view of the renewed decline in some leading indicators and the high level of economic policy uncertainty, a renewed slowdown in economic momentum is not inconceivable.
