Areas of the Future for Education and Training in Vienna in Times of Demographic, Ecological and Digital Challenges
This study analyses the age composition of employees in Vienna compared to other Austrian regions. Industry-specific differences and potential features in the proportion of older and younger workers, as well as nationality-based differences, are examined on the basis of citizenship. The focus is on the construction, information and communication technologies ICT, and municipal sectors, where demographic changes, digitalisation, and ecological initiatives are particularly relevant. These factors could lead to shortages that threaten supply security, competitiveness, and the achievement of climate goals in Vienna by 2040.
