Green Jobs and Climate-relevant Occupations – a Classification Comparison
Follow-up to the Study on Green Jobs for the Unemployed
Mitigating climate change and global warming is a central challenge for the economy, society and politics, alongside digitalisation and demographics. To achieve this, greenhouse gas emissions must be drastically reduced, which will result in far-reaching transformation processes in industrial production, consumer habits and electricity, gas steam, and air conditioning supply, and consequently in employment, because climate measures and policies will increase the demand for specific occupations that contribute to climate neutrality, while at the same time the resource-conserving use of raw materials and the use of renewable energy will reduce the importance of employment sectors.
