Macroeconomic Importance of Education Export. Qualitative Evidence and Relevance for Economic Policy

The growing macroeconomic importance of skills and a trend to extend the market in education to a European level confirm the weight that education exports will gain in the future. Although there is insufficient data available to estimate the volume of education export, figures on non-nationals studying in Austria indicate that education export is of relevance for the Austrian economy. The study concludes with a discussion of selected economic policy aspects of education export.
