Background Reports for the Preparation of the European Competitiveness Report for 2011
Starting in 2003, WIFO has been lead-managing a high-ranking consortium of international research institutes to prepare the report on European competitiveness published by the EU DG Enterprise and Industry. In addition to notable representatives of Harvard University and ETH Zurich, partner organisations include i.a. the National Institute of Social and Economic Research (NIESR) in London, the Centre d'Information et de Recherche sur L'Economie Mondiale (CIREM) in Paris, the Instituto Valenciano de Investigaciones Economicas (IVIE) in Valencia, the Zentrum für Europäische Wirtschaftsforschung (ZEW) in Mannheim, the Netherlands Bureau of Economic Policy Analysis (CPB) in The Hague, Etlatieto Oy in Helsinki, the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), the Institute for World Economics (VKI) in Budapest and the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw). The 2011 report focuses on convergence of science-intense production, the European space industry, industrial raw materials and sustainable development, each in the context of European competitiveness and industrial policy. The summaries of the background reports are published in the annual report on European competitiveness.
