Income Development and Income Distribution in Upper Austria
Like most other industrial regions, Upper Austria has experienced an increase in inequality in the functional and personal income distribution over the past decade. Functional distribution, the distribution of the national income across production factors, shifted to a bias towards profits and unearned income: labour's share in the national income has fallen. Personal income distribution certainly is more equal in Upper Austria, but its dispersion and gender-specific differences in income are greater than the average of the other Länder. Household income distribution, on the other hand, remained more stable in Upper Austria.
