Medium- and Long-term Financing of Long-term Care Provision
Total spending in Austria on long-term care provision made up about € 3.3 billion in 2006. Between 1994 and 2006, expenditure for long-term care rose by about 50 percent. Calculations of the three scenarios set the rise in the cost of long-term care up to 2030 at 66 percent (lower bound scenario) to 207 percent (upper bound scenario). The middle scenario shows an increase of about 160 percent. In terms of real GDP, all three scenarios agree on an increase in the cost of the long-term care system.
