New high growth firms in Europe
High growth new firms are dynamic enterprises that manage to master innovation and engage in high value added activities. This phenomenon has recently attracted much policy interest and significant research has been developed into the dynamics of these firms in Europe, as well as on the identification of the determinants that allow these companies to emerge and grow. Based on these determinants, which range from low red tape to well-functioning markets or access to R&D capabilities, a variety of policy instruments can be designed to foster further their development. The task of this project is to update the existing knowledge about the latest trends and to study whether the of pace high growth firm formation is accelerating or not in Europe.
