WIFO trauert um seinen früheren Vizepräsidenten Herbert Tumpel

Als Vizepräsident setzte sich Herbert Tumpel 16 Jahre lang im Vorstand des WIFO für die Unabhängigkeit von Wissenschaft und Forschung ein.
„Mit Herbert Tumpel verliert das WIFO einen langjährigen Unterstützer, der sich durch seine große Loyalität und seinen Einsatz für eine unabhängige Wirtschaftsforschung um das Institut verdient gemacht hat“, sagt WIFO-Leiter Christoph Badelt.
Von 1997 bis 2013 – insgesamt 16 Jahre lang – gehörte Tumpel in seiner damaligen Funktion als Arbeiterkammer-Präsident zusammen mit WKO-Präsident Christoph Leitl dem WIFO-Vorstand an. Tumpel war in dieser Funktion Lore Hostasch, seine Vorgängerin als AK-Präsidentin, nachgefolgt. „Unsere Gedanken sind in diesen schweren Stunden bei seiner Ehefrau Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell und seiner Familie“, sagt Badelt.
