New "Horizon 2020" Project
The GROWINPRO ("Growth Welfare Innovation Productivity") project applied for under the call for proposals "TRANSFORMATIONS-14-2018 Supply and demand-oriented economic policies to boost robust growth in Europe Addressing the social and economic challenges in Europe" as part of the EU research framework programme Horizon 2020 has just been awarded the grant agreement. The EU project investigates the causes of the slowdown in economic growth in Europe in recent decades and analyses the interactions between innovation, productivity and supply as well as demand-side economic policies in a world marked by globalisation, digitisation and demographic change. The research team comprises leading scientists from the fields of innovation economics, industrial dynamics, econometrics, agent-based macroeconomics and public governance working at 10 European research institutions and three national statistical offices. The involvement of the statistical offices allows the development of new data and measurements.
The project, with a total budget of almost 3 million euros, is coordinated by Sant' Anna Scuola Universitaria Superiore Pisa and will run for 3 years (2019 to 2021). At WIFO, industrial economist Werner Hölzl will lead the project. The WIFO work packages deal with the dynamics of global value chains as well as with the topic of established companies and start-ups as carriers of innovation and productivity growth.
