Evaluation of Environmental Subsidy Schemes

The study examines the macroeconomic effects of the federal environmental subsidy schemes between 2023 and 2025. Using the dynamic (macro-)economic input-output model DEIO, the direct, indirect and consumption-induced effects of the subsidised investments on gross production value, value added, employment, and public revenue and expenditure are estimated. The results show that the support schemes analysed have consistently positive economic and fiscal effects. Furthermore, they contribute to the achievement of climate and energy policy objectives. The evaluation also shows that the effects vary depending on the technology, sectoral structure, dependence on imports and the design of the support schemes.
