Retail Business Cycle Report
Once a quarter, the Retail Business Cycle Report compiles key economic information for the retail trade and trade as a whole. Ongoing economic monitoring and reporting is highly relevant to provide retailers and the interested public with up-to-date data and analyses. The current report shows that the Austrian economy remained subdued in the third quarter of 2025. Turnover in retail trade (excluding motor vehicles) remained flat in September 2025 after adjustment for calendar effects. However, cumulative turnover for the first nine months of the year was higher than in the same period of 2024. Although the confidence among domestic retailers was significantly better in October than a year ago, the balance deteriorated compared with the previous month. The confidence among domestic consumers has also recently deteriorated.
