The Economy in the Austrian Länder. Third Quarter 2018
Austria's economy remains comparatively robust in the beginning downturn of the international economy. The development of the economy is still based on a broad foundation, which limits the influence of the structural component on regional economic development. This has the effect of reducing differences in the regional economic picture. In the second half of the year, all Länder still achieved significant employment gains, with figures ranging between +2.9 percent in Styria and +1.7 percent in Carinthia. The "large" industrial Länder of Styria and Upper Austria continue to lead the growth ranking. However, regional disparities have diminished and hardly follow any clear geographical or sectoral logic. The labour market again relaxed across the board, with differences also driven by demographic factors and the respective development of labour market policy training.
