The Contextual Database of the Generations and Gender Programme
The increasing recognition that the study of human behaviours has to take into account the multiple contexts in which these behaviours occur has opened a promising research avenue in social sciences. In particular, it has a potential of enhancing the policy-relevance of the re-search, by integrating the analysis of the policy context with that of behavioural motivations on the level of the family or an individual. It also presents new challenges, such as the need for a common conceptual framework for micro-level surveys and contextual data. The Genera-tions and Gender Programme (GGP) provides such a framework, by providing a comparative collection of around 210 variables on a national and subnational level, which complement the micro-level data collected in the Generations and Gender Surveys (GGS).
