Effects of Career Choice, Career Breaks, and Part-time Work on Women's Lifetime Earnings
The occupational choice and the high part-time rate of women in Austria in combination with low wage levels lead to low pensions in the income-centered pension system. The study shows how the different income levels along occupations on the one hand, and interruptions in employment due to childcare and part-time phases of 20 and 30 hours per week on the other hand, affect women's cumulative earned income and pension levels.
