Retail Business Cycle Report
Once a quarter, the Retail Business Cycle Report compiles key economic information for the retail trade and trade as a whole. Ongoing economic monitoring and reporting is highly relevant to provide retailers and the interested public with up-to-date data and analyses. The current report shows that the rise in crude oil prices caused by the war in Iran weighed on the domestic economy and halted the economic recovery. According to preliminary data, calendar-adjusted turnover in the domestic retail trade (excluding motor vehicles) was also weak in June 2026. However, survey data from both retailers and consumers have recently indicated an improvement once again. Inflation fell to 2.8 percent in July 2026, with food prices having a dampening effect.
