Retail Business Cycle Report

Once a quarter, the Retail Business Cycle Report compiles key economic information for the retail trade and trade as a whole. Ongoing economic monitoring and reporting is highly relevant to provide retailers and the interested public with up-to-date data and analyses. The current report shows that the Austrian economy remained weak at the end of the year 2024. By contrast, sales development in the retail trade was good in November and December 2024. The survey results in January 2025 also indicate a slight improvement, although pessimistic assessments in the retail trade continue to predominate. By contrast, the mood among domestic consumers has cooled again in recent months. Against this backdrop, the weak consumer momentum is likely to continue this year.
