Regional Risks and Opportunities of Decarbonisation Due to Different Transition Scenarios in Austria

This study estimates the potential regional impact of decarbonisation in terms of employment (and value added) at the level of the NACE Rev. 2 two-digit industries in the Austrian districts. The starting point is the energy and greenhouse gas scenario "transition" at national level of the Environment Agency Austria as well as various potential scenarios that could occur in the context of the transition to climate neutrality. The focus of the analyses lies on three (potential) scenarios for employment development and the associated occupational fields as key labor market variables. These scenarios are 1. the four most emission-intensive sectors, 2. sustainable motorised private transportation and 3. sustainable residential housing.
