Retail Business Cycle Report
Once a quarter, the Retail Business Cycle Report compiles key economic information for the retail trade and trade as a whole. Ongoing economic monitoring and reporting is highly relevant to provide retailers and the interested public with up-to-date data and analyses. The current report shows that the domestic economy remained weak in autumn. After real retail sales almost stagnated in July and August, survey results in September 2024 indicate a slight improvement. However, domestic consumer confidence has remained largely subdued of late, characterised by a high degree of uncertainty. Despite a sharp rise in household income, this is increasing savings, meaning that consumer demand is likely to stagnate overall in 2024.
