A Tourism Satellite Account for Austria. Methodology, Results and Projections 2000-2015
Tourism Satellite Accounts (TSAs) are used to capture and analyse the tourism industry as an economic phenomenon in the context of the national accounts and other business statistics, using the national accounts as a framework and integration pattern. The TSA concept differentiates between tourism-specific, tourism-related and non-tourism-specific production. In 2013, the Austrian tourism industry as a whole contributed 7.9 percent to GDP (on ESVG 2010 basis). This figure is expected to amount to 7.7 percent in 2014 and to 7.8 percent in 2015. The direct and indirect effects of tourism contributed 9.4 percent to overall employment (employees and self-employed in terms of full-time equivalents) in 2013.
