Employment in the Trade Industry
In this study we analyse the development of trade employment since the onset of the financial crisis 2008-09 along various dimensions. In taking quantitative as well as qualitative criteria into consideration we focus on part-time employment, the skills level of the employees, the age structure of the workforce as well as on different subjective aspects of work satisfaction. Special emphasis is given to the retail sector and part-time working women aged 45 years and above. In addition we analyse the group of trade apprentices and contrast their dynamics over the last 5 years with other industries. Differences in income and industry classification of the first workplace once finishing education are highlighted.
