Economic expertise for economic and environmental policy decisions

The measures taken to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, which at the same time severely restrict economic activity in many countries, have consequences not only on unemployment, trade, production, income and value added, but also on the environment. Following the restriction of economic activities in spring 2020, the public authorities are also called upon to avert economic damage and to mitigate the consequences. It is important to assess the short- to medium-term effects of changes in production and consumption not only in terms of value added and employment, but also in terms of emissions and compatibility with climate targets. In this study, this is analysed by assessing exemplary measures that are typically implemented by Länder.
